My XR will sometimes take a charge when needed. Then all of a sudden the next time I want to charge it, it often won’t charge. Battery will run down to zero and it will shut down. When the charge is in the red zone I’ll press the on button and the red battery screen shows up. It still won’t charge after the red battery screen shows up. Sometimes the red battery screen will stay on for awhile but other times the red battery screen will immediately disappear.

My problem is, while my phone will often take a charge it often won’t take a charge for days. Then all of a sudden after several days it starts charging. Usually if I take it to an acquaintance and the person plugs it in in his domicile, it will start charging. That’s after I’ve tried to get it started by plugging it in every outlet in my condo using four different cables, the original Apple one and another Apple cable I bought. The other two are no names. I have twoindoor plugs, one Apple the other not Apple, The same goes for in my car. I have two different plugs, one Apple, one no name. One time it wouldn’t charge in the car with the Apple cable and plug. I used the no name plug and a non-Apple cable and it charged, something that it wouldn’t do using the Apple plug and cable the day before.

I cleaned the inside of the lightning connection with canned air and a toothpick, toothpick advice given to me by an employee of my carrier’s store, which accomplished nothing.

Any ideas, advice?
