They have done everything possible but this issue hasn’t been resolved. So, what’s the fix to this iPhone 12 5G/4G/3G issue? How can it be solved? Don’t worry! There are various fixes you can try before blowing up your cell carrier’s customer support line.

How to fix 5G/4G/3G not working problem on iPhone 12

Disable VPN

It seems that the VPN service used by the third-party security software may affect the 4G LTE access. This may be a compatibility issue between the app and iOS.

You will need to disable your third-party security or VPN service app when using the cellular data in the meantime.

Of course, this is only a temporary workaround. You can use these apps again when using cellular data networks if the developers have debugged it. We suggest that you use a Wi-Fi connection instead when you want to use your VPN service app.

Check mobile data is switched on

IF you find iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro 5G not working, The first thing you should do is to head to Settings > Cellular Data and check that the slider next to Cellular Data is green. If it’s not, tap it.

Turn airplane mode on and off

Sometimes the most obvious fix is the most reliable one. If you notice your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro not connecting to 5G, one of the first things you should try is turning airplane mode on and off. You can do this simply by dragging down the Control Center and tapping on the airplane icon, or you can do it through Settings.

Go to Settings > Airplane mode. Turn it on for at least a couple of seconds, then disable it. In a lot of cases your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro 5G/4G/3G connectivity issues will be gone.

Restart your device

If toggling airplane mode didn’t solve your problem, it’s time for another tried and true step — restarting your device. Simply press and hold the power button and either the volume button of your smartphone and then tap Restart. Wait a couple of seconds and turn it back on.

Data roaming

Are you on a trip? If you’re travelling internationally, your phone needs to be set up for data roaming. Head to Settings > Cellular Data > Cellular Data Options, and check that Data Roaming is set to on.

Make sure the right network mode is enabled

Depending on your carrier, you should have at least three connection types – 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE or just LTE. Usually, your device will try to connect to the fastest option when available, but if you’ve been tinkering with your settings or recently installed an update, that might need to be adjusted manually. Here is how to do it:

Go to Settings, then tap on Cellular.
tap cellular data options
Select Voice & Data. A pop-up list of preferred modes will appear.
Tap on the 4G option.

If you find your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro not working on 5G still, try the next solution.

Data limits

Have you reached your monthly data limit? Remember that monthly data cycles don’t necessarily begin and end on the first or last of the month, but on the day when you started your contract.

Sadly it’s not easy to track data usage limits on iPhone. If you go to Settings > Cellular (Or Mobile Data) and scroll down you can see your Mobile Data Usage, but if you’ve never reset this number it could be unhelpfully enormous. Our advice is to get in the habit of resetting it every month.

Take out and readjust your SIM card

Is your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro 5G not working after trying the above steps? The SIM card could be ill-positioned. Eject it and carefully reposition it in its tray. Be careful when inserting it back into your device. Once you’re done, your LTE connection should be back to normal.

Check your Carrier settings

The next thing to try is to check that your carrier settings are up to date. This is slightly troublesome as such updates are delivered over the internet, and your phone is offline. But it is more than likely that you got the update before your phone went offline. So go to Settings > General > About. If there is an update loaded to go you will be prompted to install it.

You can check what version of the carrier settings your phone is running by tapping Settings > General > About and looking next to “Carrier”.

Check for iOS Updates

If there’s no carrier update, there might be an updated version of iOS. You can check for that in roughly the same place.

Start the Settings app.
Scroll down and tap on “General” menu option.
Under “General” tap “Software Update.”
If an update is available, tap download and install. Your phone will restart during this process.

Reset network settings

If you tried all of the above, but nothing changed, it’s time to take a slightly more drastic step. Resetting your network settings. Here is how you can do it:

Head to Settings > General, then find Reset. Tap on it.
From the list, tap Reset Network settings. Keep in mind that this step will erase all network settings, including saved Wi-Fi networks, VPN settings and so on. If you are sure you want to proceed tap Reset Network Settings.
You will be asked to enter your passcode if you have one. Do so and confirm resetting your network settings.
Once you’ve done this, wait a couple of minutes — new network settings should be picked up by your iPhone automatically. If nothing happens, a good old reboot is always an option, but at the end your 5G connection should be back to normal. Factory reset is always an option too, but don’t resort to it if you haven’t tried other steps first.

Contact your carrier

If you can’t identify a problem at your end, it’s possible that your network provider is experiencing outages. If you’re not sure, the simplest way to find out if your provider is having an outage is to ask them, in multiple ways if possible. Send the company an email and a tweet, give them a phone call (although if there is a problem the switchboard will probably be jammed) and look for any kind of status report on the official website.

Here are the customer support numbers of the major US providers:

Verizon Wireless: 800-922-0204
Sprint: 888-211-4727
AT&T: 611 from an AT&T phone or 800-331-0500
T-Mobile: 611 from a T-Mobile phone or 1-877-746-0909 from another phone
U.S. Cellular: 611 from a U.S. Cellular phone or 1-888-944-9400 from another phone

Hopefully the provider will know of any problems in your area, with your account specifically or with the network at large, and will be in the best position to offer remedies, a timeframe of when the problem is likely to be fixed, and any compensation you’ll be able to claim. If the network is down you may be obliged to use Wi-Fi until it’s fixed. If you are also experiencing Wi-Fi connection issues, you can check out iPhone 12 Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide right here
