Is Facebook not working on your iPhone 12 mini? If so, there’s an immediate workaround available — Facebook’s mobile site. This is a lightweight, mobile browser-optimized app that can give you almost everything the Facebook app can give you — including notifications. Indeed, some folks rely entirely on the Facebook mobile app, and have uninstalled the Facebook app altogether. This can help conserve battery life on your iPhone as well.

But, let’s assume that you actually want the app to work as advertised. There are a few things you can do to get things back up and running in that event.

Solution #1: Restart the Facebook app

Close and reopen Facebook. Here is how:

go to the Home Screen and then swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone’s screen. This will Bring up your recently used apps. Find Messenger (you may swipe left or right) and then swipe up on the app.
And then try to open Messenger to see if it is working now.

Solution #2: Update iOS

Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. You can easily update your iPhone by going to Settings > General, then Software Update. And if there is an update available, follow the onscreen instructions.

Solution #3: Update Facebook

Make sure the app is fully updated in the App store. Facebook frequently pushes out updates to its app for security updates and bug fixes. As a result, older versions of the app can cease to function. Please follow these steps:
Open the App Store on your iPhone.
Tap Today.
Tap your profile icon.
Scroll down and find Facebook.
Tap Update.

To make sure you’re always using the latest version of the Facebook apps, turn on automatic updates. To do so, go to settings > App Store and turn on the switch next to app updates.

Solution #4: Uninstall and re-download Facebook app

If the above solution didn’t work, you can try uninstalling the Facebook app, restarting your iPhone, and reinstalling the app from the App store. Please follow these steps:

Touch and hold the Facebook app icon on your Home screen.
Tap Delete App.
Tap Delete again.

Launch the App Store on your iPhone.
Using the search field, search for Facebook.
Then download and install.

Solution #5: Enable Notifications

Notifications are what let you know what’s happening on Facebook. When they stop working, it can be a headache. First, make sure you have notifications enabled on your iPhone. Those are found in your iPhone’s settings. Typically you’ll go to Settings > Facebook > Notifications. Make sure Facebook is allowed to post notifications. If it is, check notification settings in the app to make sure they’re set properly. Tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines), select the “Settings and Privacy” option located under “Help and Support,” and then scroll down and tap the “Notification Settings.” From here, you can adjust what notifications you get and how you are notified.
