iPhone 12 mini Stuck on Verifying Update? Fix

Apple is quite relentless when it comes to bringing good software updates to enhance user experience. Most often these updates become market leaders and sometimes they even end up getting stuck midway or come up with some glitches. However, updating your iPhone to the latest versions is one of the ways to be equally aware of the market trend in technology. Nevertheless, some Apple users have started reporting about iPhone 12 mini getting stuck on Verifying Update. Sometimes, they receive the following error message:

“Unable to verify update. iOS [version] failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet.”

If you have been facing the same problem, this troubleshooting guide explains how you can fix this issue. Follow these steps until your problem is fixed:

Try these first

  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Please try using a different Wi-Fi network to update your iPhone.
  • Please try moving closer to your Wi-Fi modem/router.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi modem/router. To do this, unplug the power cable, wait one minute and then plug the cable back in.
  • Plug your iPhone into a power source via a USB cable and then try again.
  • Make sure that Low Power Mode is off. Go to Settings > Battery.
  • If you have installed a VPN on your iPhone, disable it, and then try again.
  • Try updating at a later time. It is possible that you are experiencing this because of Apple server issues. Wait one day and then try again.

Force Restart your iPhone

When iPhone 12 mini is stuck on verifying Update, you should perform a force restart to get the Device out of the verification update issue. To Force Restart your iPhone, please follow the steps below:
Quickly press and release the volume up button. Quickly press and release the volume down button. Press and hold the side button, when the Apple logo appears, release the button.
Once the phone has rebooted, you can go to Settings, then General. Go to About, then see if the iPhone is running on the previous version of iOS. It’s likely that the download of the new version didn’t finish. Start again and see if it works this time.

Delete the update and try again

If you are still having issues, try deleting and then redownloading the update. Please follow these steps:

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
You will see a list of apps. Find the update and delete it.
Then go to Settings > General > Software Update and try again.

Reset network settings

Reset your network settings. Please note that this step will delete all of your network settings such as your saved Wi-Fi passwords, your Bluetooth connections, etc. If you do not want to do this, you can try the next step (use your computer) before this.

To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and follow the onscreen instructions.

Use your computer

If you are still facing this problem, you can use your computer to update your iPhone. This is called a manual update. This method may let you update your device. Here is how:

If you have a Mac, open Finder, and if you have a PC, open iTunes.
Connect your iPhone to your computer with a USB cable.
View your device in the Finder or in iTunes.
Click General or Settings, and click Check for Update.
Click Download and Update and then follow the onscreen instructions.

iPhone 12 mini still stuck on verifying update?

If none of these fixes have allowed you to get the newest version of iOS, and iPhone 12 mini keeps getting stuck with that message on the screen, then the most likely scenario is a hardware issue. The iPhone might have been damaged by getting wet or rough treatment.
It’s not probable that you’ll be able to fix it on your own if that’s what’s happening. Your best option is to take it to your nearest Apple Store with a Genius Bar. The employees can look it over and figure out if there are any components that need to be replaced.
They can also fill you in on whether there’s anything happening with the server responsible for the new iOS version downloads. If the issue is on Apple’s end rather than with your iPhone, then at least you’ll know that you won’t have to pay for any repairs. You’ll probably just need to be a little bit patient as you wait for Apple to resolve whatever is going on.
