Hotspot Not Showing In iOS 14? Fix

Last Updated On August 3, 2022 by iPhoneGeeks Staff

Is Hotspot not showing in iOS 14? Well, here are the troubleshooting tips to fix the issue.

Each year Apple releases a brand new operating system. But it comes with annoying glitches, and one of them is Personal Hotspot disappeared. Are you facing personal hotspots missing after iOS 14 update? No problem. Here are the troubleshooting tips to get the icon back.

Your Personal Hotspot Feature is Not Faulty, Start With Your APN Settings and Your Carrier

iOS and iPadOS allows you to turn your iPhone and iPad into a personal internet hotspot to which you can connect to using Wi-Fi. It works great every single time, and there are moments where it does not. You can troubleshoot these issues easily, but what if the Personal Hotspot does not show up after updating your iPhone to iOS 14? Trust me, while we end up believing that our iPhone is probably broken, in most cases it is not.

Whenever you insert a SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, your device will pull the carrier settings automatically. This includes settings for internet and Personal Hotspot, both. Some carriers require you to enter those settings manually. Which means that if the settings are not downloaded automatically, then the option to create a hotspot won’t even show up in Settings.

Steps to fix hotspot not showing in iOS 14 issue

  1. On your iPhone, launch the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Cellular.
  3. Now, tap on Cellular Data Network Settings and make sure all the missing credentials are in place, especially those for Personal Hotspot.

Usually, these settings are available on the carrier’s website. But if they are not, then you might want to call up your carrier using your phone and get the settings from there. Usually, the settings for cellular data and Personal Hotspot are the same, so you can try and see if that works for you. If you leave the Personal Hotspot space blank then there’s no internet tethering for you, ever.

Certain carriers might actually charge you to use the internet hotspot feature on your iPhone or iPad, so it’s a good idea to inquire about that as well. Basically, apart from paying an unearthly amount of money on your cellular data plan every month, you have to pay extra if you want to use the data you already own on another device. Such a harsh world we live in.

Last but not the least, you can try to reset network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset and then tap on Reset Network Settings. Start over fresh and see if the problem is solved for you. If you find personal hotspot not showing on iPhone after trying the above steps, then you might want to contact Apple support or just perform a fresh restore of iOS 14.
