The Wi-Fi network has become an essential feature of our daily life. Not just for fast and uninterruptible internet connection, but high-speed data transmission, gaming, file transfer, and many more. The issue of iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus WiFi not working can be so frustrating and overwhelming. To help you get over that, this article explains what to do if your iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus Wi-Fi is not working. First, start by rebooting both devices, then follow the other solutions below.

Fix iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus wifi not working

1. Reboot your Wi-Fi Router

Have you left your Wi-Fi router idle for a while? It might have entered the power-saving mode. All you need is to wake it up and restart the connection. To do that, simply reboot your Wi-Fi router the usual way. Typically, you should find a power button on the hardware. Long press the power button to restart the Wi-Fi router.

If you’re sharing Wi-Fi Hotspot from another phone, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center. Once there, find the wi-Fi icon and turn it off. Wait for a few seconds, then turn it on again.

Disconnect the Wi-Fi router from the power source and connect it again.

If rebooting your Wi-Fi router and wi-Fi doesn’t seem to fix the issue, you might need to plug off the Wi-Fi router itself.

If the router is connected to a power source, simply remove the plug and let it rest for a while. After a few moments, plug in the router to the power source again and boot it up.
If you’re using a MiFi or a battery-powered router, you can remove the battery and let it rest for a while. If the battery is not removable, you can shut it down and let it rest for a while. After a few minutes, re-insert the battery and boot up the router normally.
If you’re trying to connect a Wi-Fi Hotspot from another phone, try shutting down the phone, let it rest for a while, and restart it.

2. Restart your iPhone

While trying to fix iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus not connecting to wifi issue, you should also restart your phone. This could sometimes fix a variety of a software-related issue that might also cause the Wifi not to connect. You can quickly restart your iPhone by long-pressing the power button for a few seconds until you see the power off slider. Drag this rider from left to right to turn off your iPhone. You can also restart your iPhone by navigating to Settings > General > Shut Down. Try connecting to the WiFi again to see if the problem persists.

3. Check another device

If you’ve tried all the fixes above with no positive outcome, it’s time to check your iPhone. Try connecting another device – may be an iPhone or PC – to the Wi-Fi network to see if it works normally. If yes, that means your iPhone is faulty, skip to the last solution on this page.

On the other hand, if other devices are not connecting to the Wi-Fi network, you might need to take a deeper look at what might have caused the problem. Visiting an Apple Store or reaching out to the Wi-Fi Router’s manufacturer could help.

4. Update iOS

Before you finally give up fixing the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus WiFi not working problem, it’s nice and necessary to check if you’re running the latest software on your iPhone. Perhaps the mishap was caused by an iOS bug – which could have been fixed in the iOS update. To update your iPhone, go to Settings > General > software Update to check and download any pending software update.

5. Connect and then disconnect Wifi

Disconnecting (forgetting) and then reconnecting to the WiFi may also help fix iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus Wi-Fi not working problem. To do this, kindly open the Settings app, tap on WiFi, Now, tap (i) next to the Wi-Fi name and then tap on forget this network.

Try the connection process again to see if it works or continue to another solution below.

6. Disable VPN

At times, a VPN may cause iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus wi-Fi issues. If a VPN is enabled on your iPhone, open the VPN app and turn it off. Alternatively, just launch the Settings app and tap on the VPN toggle.

In addition, if you have installed many unnecessary VPN apps on your iPhone, try uninstalling a few. This will also delete their VPN profiles and hopefully fix iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus Wi-Fi not working issue.

7. Reset network Settings

In a situation like this, you might need to reset network settings on your iPhone to bring back everything to normal again. In light of that, we recommend your reset your network settings. It’s nothing to be scared about as you wouldn’t lose anything on your iPhone. It just restores the network settings. Follow the steps below to do that.

From there, tap Reset. Next, select Reset network settings.

iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus Wi-Fi not working still?

If your iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S plus won’t connect to Wi-Fi after trying all of the above tips, there are two things left to do:

  • Call your internet provider to ensure that there are no problems on their end. If you are having this issue on all of your devices, this can be the reason. Contact them and explain that iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus does not connect to wi-Fi.
  • Contact Apple, you may be having a hardware problem. Apple can diagnose and repair it.
