You can leave your iPhone 15 on most of the time, but it’s sometimes necessary to shut down.

If an iPhone 15 is your first iPhone — or your first smartphone, period — you might be confused about how to turn it all the way off instead of just putting it to sleep. You can do this using your phone’s physical buttons or an option in the Settings app. We’ll guide you through both methods below.
To turn off an iPhone 15, hold down the side button and one of the volume buttons, then drag the Slide to power off slider when it appears onscreen. Alternatively, go to Settings > General > Shut Down to turn off the iPhone.
Use Buttons to Turn Off an iPhone 15
One way to shut down your iPhone 15 is to use the hardware buttons on your phone.
To use this method, simply hold down the side button and one of the volume buttons until a set of sliders appear onscreen. Drag the Slide to power off slider all the way to the right.
To turn your iPhone back on, press and hold down the Side button until the Apple logo appears on your screen.
Use Settings to Turn Off an iPhone 15
Start by launching the Settings app on your iPhone. Then, choose “General.”
Scroll down to the bottom, then tap “Shut Down.”
Drag the Slide to power off slider all the way to the right.
Your iPhone 15 is now turned off. You can turn it back on by pressing and holding down the Side button until the Apple logo appears on your screen. That’s it!
