How to fix iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max Wi-Fi issues

Check WiFi setting and see whether it is turned on

Go to settings, then on wi-Fi check to ensure that the WiFi icon is turned on.

Alternatively, draw down the Control Center, then enable WiFi icon if it’s off.

Open Airplane Mode and disable it again

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > WiFi Networking – turn this option off.

WiFi networking is not linked to WiFi and is only related to location services. Your WiFi will not be affected if you turn it off.

Force Restart

Press the Volume Up button and release
Press the Volume Down button and release
Now press and hold the Side/Sleep/Wake button and wait till you see the Apple logo before you let the button go.
The Volume Up and Volume Down buttons should be pressed and released quickly.

Disable VPN

At times, a VPN may cause issues with the Wi-Fi connection on your iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. If a VPN is enabled on your iPhone, open the VPN app and turn it off. Alternatively, just launch the Settings app and tap on the VPN toggle.

In addition, if you have installed many unnecessary VPN apps on your iPhone, try uninstalling a few. This will also delete their VPN profiles.

Forget the Wi-Fi Network and Connect Again

Go to Settings > WiFi > Tap WiFi and select Forget This Network when you get the prompt
Exit the screen and wait for 10-20 seconds. Now head back to
Settings > WiFi > Select the network and then enter the password > Join the network

Connect WiFi with other devices

Maybe the iPhone you’re using is having issues connecting to the WiFi. If that is the problem, you should consider switching to a different iOS device to see if the issue persists. You might be surprised to find that other devices are connecting perfectly.

Reboot the router

Sometimes your iPhone might not be the problem, maybe the router could be causing iPhone XS or iPhone XS max not connecting to wifi problem. Go to Settings on your iPhone
Now go to WiFi and locate your connection and tap on the ‘i’ icon beside it
Go down and see the DNS section and then tap over the number written beside it
You will now be able to enter a new DNS address.
For OpenDNS, you can use

67.222.222
67.222.220
For Google DNS you can use

8.8.8
8.4.4
There are other DNS available too, and you will have to use a third-party tool to find out which is the best for you.

Factory reset iPhone(Be cautious)

After trying all of the above options without any success, the last thing to do is to factory reset your iPhone. Factory resetting means that the device will be back to its original settings. It may include losing all your data, or any downloaded app. That’s why you’re advised to always back up any data you need before proceeding with the factory reset. To go about factory resetting your iPhone to its original form:

Go to settings > General > reset > Erase All Content and Settings
