Your iPhone Keyboard Lag in iOS 14? Fix

does your iPhone keyboard lag after updating your device to iOS 14 ? You’re not alone! In this article, I’ll show you how to fix iPhone keyboard lag problem for good!

iPhone keyboard lag is a common issue, that’s occurring mostly in the Messages app. When the user taps on the text input field, the keyboard either loads with a delay, lags when typing or freezes. More, there’s an overall sense of keyboard slowness.
There are many troubleshooting tips that can help you fix iPhone keyboard lag issue, including turn off Reachability, disable Zoom, enable Reduce Motion, but neither worked on our devices.

How To Fix iPhone Keyboard Lag In iOS 14

The only trick that works until Apple issues an official fix in an upcoming software update is:

  1. Start the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to General.
  3. Scroll down and tap Reset.
  4. Tap on Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
  5. Type in your device Passcode and the iPhone keyboard lag bug should be fixed.

Additional iPhone Keyboard Lag Fix For Messages App

What you can also try is to reset the iMessage system and see if this workaround will fix the lagging keyboard in iOS 14:

  1. Start the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap Messages.
  3. Turn off iMessage.
  4. Tap the toggle next to iMessage to turn the service back ON.

Please note: Waiting for activation… message has to be displayed under the iMessage label, to confirm that the service is resetting.
Tip: You can also fix the iPhone keyboard lag issue by performing a force restart, but we noticed that this fix does not always work, and even when it does, it’s temporary, because the problem occurs again sooner rather than later!
