What are the reasons your iPhone 12 Pro might not turn on? Let’s have a look at some causes and solutions.
1. Charging Issues
As is frequently the case, the most obvious cause is usually the correct one.
If you haven’t noticed any sign of your iPhone malfunctioning previously, the problem might be a simple as a lack of juice in the battery. More often than not, that traces back to charging issues.
Check Your Connections
Firstly, check the obvious points. Did you definitely remember to charge your iPhone? Has the charger become partially dislodged from the wall socket? And is the power socket turned on?
Dirt and Dust
Next, ensure there’s no dust, dirt, or other gunk clogging up either the USB port on your charging cable or your iPhone’s lightening port.
Remember, the connections are delicate. The best way to remove grime from ports is to use a can of compressed air.

Troubleshoot Your Cable
If you find your iPhone 12 Pro not powering on, there are two components you should check – the wall adapter and the charging cable. The charging cable is by far the most common charging problem, which makes sense – they endure a lot of unwrapping and rewrapping, flexing, and people trying to plug them in at weird angles. All of these things can damage the cable.
Chances are you have a few charging cables lying around, so try switching out the cable for another to see if that helps. If you don’t have another cable to test out, you may want to borrow one before moving on to a more drastic step.

Check the wall adapter
The other component to check before you start messing around with your iPhone is the wall adapter. This is particularly true if you’re using an adapter where the cable can be removed. It’s certainly possible that the USB port on the adapter could have broken.
Like with the cable, the easiest way to check if the adapter is at fault is to simply try charging with a new adapter. However, if you don’t have access to another adapter you can also try plugging in to your computer. If it charges with the same phone and cable, chances are the adapter is at fault (although you might want to try multiple electrical outlets too!).
2. Check the Screen
Of course, your iPhone might be powered on without you realizing it. A broken screen can give the impression that there’s no power.
Thankfully, it’s easy to know whether your screen is to blame. Hold the Power button for 30 seconds to ensure your iPhone is definitely powering up, then wait for at least two minutes to allow the boot process to complete.
Now, simply call yourself from another phone. If the iPhone rings, your screen is to blame. If it doesn’t, you need to keep going.
Remember, you can sometimes replace the screen yourself, but once again, you will void your warranty.
3. Connect your iPhone to a Computer
It is possible that you can be stuck in a situation where your iPhone 12 Pro has a faulty power button and it shuts down unexpectedly. In such cases, you can try to connect your iPhone to a PC and wait for a few seconds or minutes for it to boot. In most cases, if your iPhone has enough charge, it should boot automatically into iOS. If not, try the step mentioned below.
This is also a good way of knowing if your iPhone is actually dead or if its display has just stopped working. If its the latter, the device will still be detected by your PC.
4. Force Restart iPhone
If your iPhone 12 Pro is not booting even after pressing the power button, you can try force restarting it to see if that helps.
Press the Volume up button followed by the Volume down button and then quickly press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

5. Reset Your iPhone
Perhaps your iPhone will turn on, but cannot make it past the boot process to your home screen. A corrupted upgrade or a custom ROM could be to blame. In this case, you can try to reset your iPhone.
Warning: Resetting your iPhone will wipe everything on it. Ensure you make regular backups of your important iPhone data.
Go to settings > General > Reset > Erase or Content and Settings.
The reset process will take several minutes to complete.

iPhone 12 Pro not turning on still?
If iPhone 12 Pro will not start up even after following the above steps, the only option you now have left is to take it to your nearest Apple service center. If your device is in warranty, you can take it to an Apple store or an authorized Apple service center to get it repaired. Since the device will be in warranty, Apple will repair or replace it for free.
If your iPhone 12 Pro is not in warranty though, I will recommend that you take it to a third-party service center first as they can likely repair your phone at a far lower price than Apple. However, do this only if there’s a reputed third-party repair shop for Apple products in your area. Otherwise, if you don’t mind spending some additional money for peace of mind, authorized Apple service centers are still going to be your best bet.
If any of the above methods help in bringing your dead iPhone 12 Pro back to life, do drop a comment and let us know about it!
